new activity!

james & i had a cute lunch today in south pasadena at mike & anne's. super cute place. i recommend it!

anyway, we took a little walk to get some ice cream and we stopped by a cute yarn store called abuelita's. SOOOO adorable!! it's been a LONGGGG time since i knitted. 2nd term at art center to be exact. james bought me a cute little 'starter' kit with 2 colors of yarn, 2 needles, and some other stuff...
after starting & stopping & restarting over and over again, i finally made some progress (although my fingers are cramping up big time!).

i really can't wait to get better at this knitting thing so i can make james some mis-matched socks, uneven sweaters and other stuff that i won't be able to use during our warm california weather! =)
YAYYYY!!!

feels like school...

once again, i let 3-day weekend just pass me by...how do i let that happen?!?! its always the beginning of the week before i know it...here i am again...waiting for friday! where are you sweet friday? :o)

i spent this peaceful labor day weekend apparently reliving my years at art center...

it started with a lesson in color theory...(can we say design 1??!) hehe

organizing color swatches was no fun...(and much harder than i thought...i'm so rusty! good thing i married a guy who went to accd also. haha, thanks for doing it for me honey!! hahahaha)

james and i then took field trip to huntington library...(it's just down the street from us, but it's been such a long time since we've both gone and this was our first time there together - so sweet...i know! hehe) it was definitely nice not going for a class assignment...

there really is nothing like wandering aimlessly around beautiful gardens! can this please be my backyard?!?! sigh... :o)

weekend work...

so this weekend was filled with another sewing project.

a good friend, sandy, and i decided that we would try and make a 'kubbyhole' for her bunnies. generally, i think it's for cats, but we're making one for her bunnies. yay bunnies!!!

somehow, i convinced her that we could just sew one together instead of spending $30 to buy one. little did i know that the materials alone would be WAY past $30...another lesson learned. the good thing is...we were able to chill, yap, hang out, and laugh about it all.

here is the result. it's pretty crappy, but it's for the bunnies, they don't judge!! haha. (murphy is demonstrating the use & fun of the kubbyhole!)

afterwards, we had a little impromptu doggie photoshoot! and YES, i was able to use my dope camera strap! keke...

special thanks to tyler bear, charlie brown, and murphy for eating biscuits, chewing on toys, and playing nicely with each other...also to sandy for this idea, and for hand-sewing a circle...and to eric...for lucky boy and playing metal gear solid! =)

exploring...

hi y'all~~!
so last week, i decided to finally purchase a sewing machine. i don't know why i wanted to buy one or why i thought i could use it. anyway, i bought one at sears, and was SUPER excited to start making a bunch of stuff. i thought in no time, i would be making my own clothes.
needless to say, it was soooo complicated! i haven't been around a sewing machine since i was a kid! trying to teach myself to use the bobbin and thread the needle took hours! the manual was completely useless since i didn't know what it wanted to me to! it might as well have been written in another language.
anyway, after MANY MANY problems, errors and curse words...i finally was about to sew in a straight line! yay yay yay!
here are the results -
first - a small pillow for murphy, followed by a bigger pillow for me...

then comes a camera strap (this is acutally the 2nd one, the first one...well, you don't want to know...

hopefully, the sewing machine and i can become good friends, and i can start making tons and tons of stuff.

special shout out to murphy for being a dope model (& dope dog!)
